The Holly Monarch

Every year at Yule Ball the Holly Monarch is decided by a contest of skill in archery, A&S, fencing, or armoured combat - the discipline rotates each year. Whoever triumphs wins the leather sash for the year, and before returning it must add their own arms to join those of their predecessors upon it. The Holly Monarch also has the duty of handing out the gifts during the Feast.

The Holly Monarch this year will be decided by an Armoured Combat Tournament – test your skill to become the Holly Monarch!

Tournament format and rules:

The tournament format will be a simple bear pit, with the time limit
to be decided. Wounds will be retained. The winner will be the
person with the longest winning streak, that is the person who holds the
field for the most consecutive bouts.

However, a fighter's streak will be reduced based on their recognised
proficiency, as follows:
Baronial or Principality Fighting Award, -1
Kingdom Fighting Award, -2
Chivalry or Viscounty, -3
County or Duchy, -4
Only the highest penalty applies.

This means, for example, if you are a member of either the Silver Guard
or the Ordo Alae, and you hold the field for four bouts before losing,
your streak is 2 rather than 4.

In case of a tie at the end of time, the fighter with the lowest penalty
will be declared the winner. If there is a tie between those fighters,
there will be some sort of elimination to determine the final winner.
