Become a member and support our Shire
You are welcome to all our events and practices. However, please note that for insurance purposes, membership is required to attend. Members get discounts at certain practices and events, and membership helps support our activities throughout Ireland, the UK – and the rest of the world.
As with many other clubs and societies, the SCA has some behind-the-scenes costs to keep it functioning – primarily insurance, which is required by the venues we use for events.
Your membership status is required to participate:
- in order to be covered by our insurance, your membership status is required
- please submit your membership status 3 days in advance (deadline, Tuesday at 6pm) to take part in any Saturday practice or Flintmoot
- for members, once your membership status has been submitted, it persists for all practices and Flintmoots until your expiry date (you'll receive an email when your membership expires to remind you to renew). You're automatically covered moving forward
- newcomers get one free non-member day, then moving forward, membership is required to attend all practices and Flintmoots

Membership fees go towards:
– 3rd party insurance: if SCA attendees damage a site by accident, the SCA CIC UK’s insurance pays the site’s costs for repairs
– affiliate fees to SCA Inc in the US: so we stay part of the larger Society. When you attend an event in another kingdom, or another affiliate, the gatekeeper accepts your SCA CIC UK membership as valid to attend to play, fight, fence and marshal by shared Society rules
– online services: a yearly fee for MemberMojo, to manage memberships and renewals online, and deliver your membership info by email
– bank fees: to process payments and withdrawals
– accountant’s fees: to do our books once a year
Membership in the SCA costs only £15 a year. Your membership supports not only Flintheath, but the Principality, the Kingdom, and the SCA worldwide.
SCA Community Interest Company (CIC) UK is a UK and Republic of Ireland-based affiliate of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc., a 501(c)3 Educational Not-for-Profit organization, based in the US. This affiliate is a local corporation, registered at Companies House, which provides its members services.
