The Viscountess Challenges

DSC_0023_edited_edited_edited_edited_edi

The Viscountesses Challenge is an exciting new tournament format for St Bede's LXI!  This format will run on the Saturday afternoon for the armoured combatants, and on the Sunday afternoon for the rapier fencers.

The tourney is designed to be a fun and exciting spectacle for fighters and spectators alike, encouraging quality fighting, chivalry and dramatic flamboyance in all the best traditions of the SCA!

Over the course of the tournament, each fighter will make a set number of challenges, challenging any other fighter they desire. The bouts will be resolved before the Viscountesses, and the assembled crowd.  Once all the fighters have completed their challenges, the Viscountesses will confer and will, at their sole discretion, award prizes for:

              •      Best Death

              •      Most Chivalrous

              •      Best Dressed

              •      Viscountesses Choice (one per Viscountess), based on whatever criteria                             the Viscountess wishes

The number of challenges each fighter will be able to make will be determined on the day and will depend on the number of fighters.

Fighters will make challenges in turn, in an order to be decided on the day.  Each fencer may only make their given number of challenges, but may be challenged any number of times.

Full salutes will be made during each fencer's first challenge.

There will be a single field, so that the spectators may enjoy each challenge fully.
